2025 NBA Playoffs Recap

The 2025 NBA playoffs have reached the Western and Eastern Conference Finals with just four teams left. The Oklahoma City Thunder will battle the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first game of the Western Conference Finals on May 20th. The New York Knicks will compete against the Indiana Pacers for the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals on May 21st. These last standing teams have watched injuries occur left and right, wile also receiving a critical amount of comments in terms of their luck in the playoffs. Let's recap the highlights thus far into the 2025 NBA playoffs.



THE HAMSTRING STRAIN-MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES VS GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS:

To kick off the Western Conference Semi Finals, Stephen Curry endured a hamstring strain that put him on the bench until the Warriors supposedly reached game 6 against the Timberwolves. Unfortunately for the bay, the Warriors were eliminated in game 5 in a 121-110 loss. Had Stephen Curry avoided an injury, would the Warriors have eliminated the fierce Anthony Edwards? Or was the Timberwolves performance inevitable from the start?


THE DAY BOSTON CRIED-BOSTON CELTICS VS NEW YORK KNICKS:

During game 4 against the New York Knicks, Jayson Tatum ruptured his right Achilles. The city of Boston was left with a devastated weight on their chest as they watched Tatum get escorted off the court. As of right now, Tatum's return to the court for the upcoming 2205-2026 season is looking to be impossible. When one star fades, another one shines- which is exactly what the Knicks did when they defeated the Celtics in game 6.


LAKERS IN 5-MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES VS LOS ANGELES LAKERS:

Recognizable sports analysts, Sports Illustrated, DraftKings Sportsbook, Fan Duel Sportsbook, and many other voices within sports media had their bets on Lakers to win in game 5 against the Timberwolves. Some even betted on the Lakers winning in game 6 or 7. The Minnesota Timberwolves were not favored at all, regardless of their performance that was comparably better than the Lakers'. BIG SMILES FOR BIG LOSS-OKC THUNDER VS DENVER NUGGETS:

When losing to the Nuggets in game 3 of the Western Conference Semi Finals, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander walked off the court with a big smile: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25197444-shai-gilgeous-alexander-recalls-viral-smiling-photo-after-thunder-eliminate-nuggets. This reaction encouraged fans to perceive him as egotistical and overly confident. Shai himself reportedly shed a smile based on the simple fact of not wanting to encourage the expression of disappointment that comes with defeat. He admitted that there is still a lot to be optimistic about. After defeating the Nuggets in game 7, guess who's smiling now?



With just four teams left in the playoffs, there is an aggressive amount of pressure for each team to mark their excellence and grasp the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy. Who will take the win and secure the title of 2025 NBA Finals Champions?
